Introducing EVOLVE, a New School Wellness Club
8/28/2019
Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc. is pleased to pioneer the new EVOLVE school wellness club. EVOLVE is being offered in Adair, Casey, and Cumberland County high schools. Students participating in the program meet monthly to learn how to make healthy choices for overall wellness.
The club equips students with the knowledge needed to make healthy lifestyle decisions, resulting in improved self-esteem, decreased BMI, normal range blood pressure, and overall improvement in mental and physical health.
Club meetings include nutrition and fitness education, development of a community project, hearing weight loss/life style change testimonials from community members, learning how to read food labels and determine appropriate portion sizes, meeting with behavioral health professionals to discuss common issues related to body image, discovering the importance of eating routinely and healthy fluid intake, learning how to stay conscious in a fast food world, and hearing from a Registered Dietician.
