CFMC Now Offering Mobile Optometry Services
4/8/2024
CFMC is pleased to announce Family Vision Centers mobile optometry services are now available as part of our Healthy Kids Clinic school-based health center program. Students at Adair County Schools, our initial participating district, are served by local optometrist, Dr. Jacob Burton, to provide preventative vision services including comprehensive exams.
Dr. Burton is a comprehensive optometrist who specializes in primary vision care, contact lens fittings, problem-focused eye examinations, pediatric eye care, urgent eye care, and pre- and post-operative eye care. As an Adair County native, he attended and graduated from the Adair County School system in 2004. He then obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and his Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University in 2012. Upon graduating from Indiana University, he returned home and joined Downey Eye Clinic in Columbia. He makes Columbia his home along with his wife, Malory Burton, and their two children, Knox, and Nora.
Dr. Burton is licensed for the practice of optometry by the state examining board of Kentucky. He is a member of the Kentucky Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and currently serves on the Board of Health for Adair County.
“In addition to our existing medical, behavioral health, and dental services, we are excited to start offering optometry services to our Healthy Kids Clinic sites in March. Our goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare in a school setting to help overcome barriers that may have prevented students from obtaining these services in the past, such as transportation or cost. By bringing these services to the school setting, we are eliminating those barriers and providing high quality, accessible care,” stated Megan McMillin, RN, BSN, Chief Nursing Officer.
