Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc. is pleased to offer a Healthy Kids Clinic program as a compliment to the traditional school nurse program. The unique combination of school nursing services and school-based health centers (SBHCs) facilitate positive health outcomes for students. SBHCs complement the work of school nurses by providing a readily accessible referral site for students who are without a medical home. School nurses work collaboratively with SBHCs to provide an array of health services to keep students healthy, in school, and ready to learn. School nurses and SBHCs both function as health safety nets for children in need and collaborate to provide comprehensive health care to students.
On-site services include acute care visits, well child visits, physicals, and immunizations. Behavioral health and dental services are offered in select districts. Click here for a list of Healthy Kids Clinic locations, services, and providers. Healthy Kids Clinics are open 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM local time and by appointment. When school is not in session, please call (844) 435-0900 for an appointment.
Exams and immunizations are conducted by our licensed health care providers during regular school hours at the child’s school; parents/guardians do not have to be present for the exam although they are welcome to attend if they should choose. This service is provided only to students with parent/guardian permission. If your child does not have health insurance, please contact us. Our staff will assist you in obtaining coverage.
If you would like for your child to have any of these services performed at school, please contact your school nurse for the appropriate consent form. Completed forms must be returned to school by your child. Parents/Guardians will receive a verification of the completion of the exam as well as the results.
We are pleased to provide these services to our students! It is our desire that all students remain healthy and come to school ready to learn each day.

“It is a given, a healthier student is a better student. Cumberland Family Medical Center’s partnership with Russell County Schools is an invaluable service to the students and families of Russell County Schools. Not only is Cumberland Family Medical Center helping to meet students’ dental and medical needs, they also provide a much needed relief to working families as parents and guardians have to miss less work to have their child seen by a medical professional. We first saw the benefit of the dental labs, and then the scope of partnership was expanded to include the onsite medical clinics “Healthy Kids Clinics.” Cumberland Family Medical Center is now offering behavioral health services for our students. Cumberland Family Medical Center and Russell County Schools have a relationship that is student/family centered that only continues to prosper.“
