Nelson County Student Hits Shot of a Lifetime
A Nelson County high schooler was right on the money when he hit a half-court shot during halftime of the Thomas Nelson and Washington County girls basketball game on Tuesday, February 4th in Bardstown.
Jackson Hughes, a junior at Thomas Nelson High School and track/cross country runner, hit the half-court shot to win $1000 sponsored by Healthy Kids Clinic. The promotion was rolled out during the 2019-20 basketball season to promote school-based health services, and Jackson is only the third person to have successfully completed the shot out of more than four dozen attempts.
“After I made the half-court shot, I was in shock, but it felt right as soon as the ball left my fingers.” stated Hughes. “I would like to thank Healthy Kids Clinic for giving me this amazing opportunity.”
