CFMC, Inc. Proudly Supports National Nutrition Month
CFMC, Inc. is excited to participate National Nutrition Month®, an observance that began in March 1973 as a week-long event known as, "National Nutrition Week." Due to the public’s overwhelming response, it became a month-long observance in 1980.
National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc., is showing support by visiting CFMC, Inc. locations and educating patients. Health Promotions Coordinator Taylor Watson is visiting clinics to offer educational materials and fresh fruit to patients as they arrive for appointments with providers. Education includes healthy eating recommendations from the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines, sixteen healthy tips for 2016, and a 31-day healthy eating challenge.
To encourage everyone to take time to enjoy food traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors, and social experiences that food can add to our lives, “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right” is this year’s National Nutrition Month® theme. Food doesn’t just have to be something we eat to stay alive or be healthy; it can also be something we learn to enjoy and savor.
